Most of the harm associated with cigarettes is caused by the toxicants in the smoke produced by the burning of tobacco, not by the nicotine.

That is why we have developed a range of New Category products that contain nicotine but do not burn tobacco. This results in far less and lower levels of toxicants compared to combustible cigarettes. While not risk-free, the available evidence suggests they are less risky*† than continuing to smoke.

Our three New Category products are:

• Tobacco Heating Products (THPs)
• Modern Oral (nicotine pouches) 

All are produced to high quality and manufacturing standards, undergoing thousands of hours of testing before they reach the consumer.

Tobacco Heating Products

Our world-leading scientific endeavours are designed to ensure that our New Category products contain far fewer toxic compounds than cigarettes which are known risks to health. Central within that science are our Tobacco Heating Products (THPs), a popular alternative to smoking and which heat tobacco rather than burn it.

Modern Oral Products

We are determined to enable and encourage consumers to use products that deliver a satisfying experience but mean they do not have to inhale the toxic compounds associated with burning tobacco. Modern Oral products play a key part in this mission.
