BAT’s strong 2021 full-year results and A Better Tomorrow™ transformation were making headlines on Friday morning.

Our 2021 preliminary results for the year ended 31 December 2021 showed that Group revenue was up 6.9%* for the year ended 31 December 2021, while new category revenue grew by more than 50%*. In 2021, the growth, from 13.5m to 18.3m, in consumers of non-combustible products was our strongest to date.

Our Chief Marketing Officer, Kingsley Wheaton, spoke to the media as news organisations reacted to our results.

Appearing on UK business programme, Ian King Show Live, on Sky News, Kingsley said BAT had posted “excellent results”, pointing to our progress in New Categories.

Kingsley said: “We said 2021 would be a pivotal year and that’s what has been delivered. We made great progress in terms of New Categories, top-line growth and earnings while our free cashflow delivery has enabled us to launch a share buyback scheme.”

Kingsley also appeared on Today, BBC Radio 4’s flagship business show. In the interview, which you can listen to below, he told BBC business correspondent, Katie Prescott, how BAT is committed to accelerating its transformation.

He said: “Our purpose is clear – we are committed to creating A Better Tomorrow and we think we are capable of delivering lots of societal value as we transform our portfolio.”
